About Sarla Aviation:
Sarla Aviation is at the forefront of revolutionizing urban air mobility with its cutting-edge eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) aircraft featuring innovative tilt-rotor technology. Sarla Aviation, a pioneer in the development of sustainable, efficient, and safe air transportation systems, is dedicated to influencing the future of aviation. We are seeking a skilled and driven Simulation Engineer to join our expanding team and contribute to the success of our eVTOL program.
About the role:
We are seeking a Simulation Engineer to develop advanced simulation models for high-voltage, high-power eVTOL propulsion systems, focusing on motor control and energy systems. This role involves creating accurate multi-domain simulations to optimize performance, efficiency, and safety for electric aircraft propulsion and energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop system-level and component-level simulation models for:
- Three-phase motor control systems (BLDC, PMSM) and inverter dynamics.
- High-voltage energy systems, including battery packs, power distribution, and thermal behavior.
- Perform multi-domain simulations (electrical, thermal, mechanical) for propulsion architecture.
- Validate simulation models against experimental and test data.
- Conduct performance analysis, thermal management studies, and fault condition simulations.
- Support design optimization for weight, efficiency, and reliability.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and propulsion teams to integrate simulation results into design decisions.
- Document simulation methodologies, results, and provide recommendations for certification compliance.
Skills Required
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or similar simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of motor control algorithms (FOC, DTC) and inverter operation.
- Expertise in battery modeling (electrochemical, thermal, and electrical aspects).
- Knowledge of power electronics, high-voltage systems, and energy distribution.
- Familiarity with thermal management strategies and EMI/EMC considerations.
- Ability to perform multi-domain simulations and integrate results into system-level models.
Soft Skills:
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in aerospace or eVTOL propulsion systems.
- Knowledge of aviation safety standards (DO-160, DO-254).
- Familiarity with battery management systems and high-voltage energy storage.
Experience:
3–5 years in simulation engineering for power electronics, motor control, or energy systems.
