About Sarla Aviation:
Sarla Aviation is at the forefront of revolutionizing urban air mobility with its cutting-edge eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-off and Landing) aircraft featuring innovative tilt-rotor technology. Sarla Aviation, a pioneer in the development of sustainable, efficient, and safe air transportation systems, is dedicated to influencing the future of aviation.

About the Role:
We are looking for a dynamic Lead Systems Engineer who thrives in a startup environment and takes ownership of driving aircraft-level systems engineering activities across the product lifecycle.
This role is responsible for defining and managing aircraft-level requirements, system architecture, and requirement allocation across aircraft subsystems. The position plays a critical role in ensuring that aircraft functions, performance, safety, and regulatory requirements are translated into clear, verifiable system requirements. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure alignment between aircraft architecture, subsystem design, safety analysis, and certification objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and manage aircraft-level requirements, including functional, performance, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain aircraft system architecture, ensuring proper allocation of requirements to aircraft subsystems.
  • Establish and maintain requirements traceability from aircraft-level requirements down to subsystem and component-level requirements.
  • Collaborate with subsystem teams (flight controls, propulsion, avionics, electrical, and structures) to ensure requirements completeness and consistency.
  • Support the development of system functional architectures, interface definitions, and system design descriptions.
  • Ensure alignment between system requirements, safety assessments, and certification objectives.
  • Work closely with verification and validation teams to ensure requirements are clear, verifiable, and testable.
  • Support development of system-level development plans, requirement baselines, and change management processes.
  • Participate in design reviews, system architecture reviews, and certification readiness activities.
  • Identify technical risks, requirement gaps, and integration challenges and drive resolution across engineering teams.
  • Prepare and present technical deliverables and system engineering artifacts to leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide systems engineers in best practices for requirements development and systems engineering processes.

Typical Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 10-12 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience in systems engineering for complex aerospace systems including aircraft-level architecture and subsystem integration.
  • Experience developing and managing aircraft and system requirements across multiple engineering domains such as flight controls, propulsion, avionics, electrical systems, and structures.
  • Experience with requirements management and MBSE tools.
  • Strong understanding of system development lifecycle for aerospace products.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills with experience coordinating across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and take ownership of deliverables.

Preferred Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of ARP4754B aircraft and systems development processes.
  • Familiarity with ARP4761A safety assessment processes.
  • Experience with FAA, EASA, DGCA, or CEMILAC certification processes.
  • Understanding of Means of Compliance for emerging eVTOL regulations.
  • Understanding of DO-178C and DO-254 development assurance processes.
  • Experience with System Engineering tools (Polarion, Teamcenter) and system modelling tools (Matlab/Simulink, Cameo, Capella, or similar).
  • Knowledge of interface control documentation and system architecture modeling.
  • Experience managing requirements traceability and compliance documentation.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and change control processes.
